LCD 20 X 4, GRAPHIC LCD, OLED Keypad Shields?

Post by sunday »

Hi,

I'm newbie regarding electronics and interesting in using the arduino platform for a project I have in mind, now, my question is simple, for LCD ( 20 X 4 ) Characters, or Graphic LCD, or Oled where can I find keyboard shields? I see that there are keypad shields for 16 x 2 LCD's, but what about keypad shields for LCD's ( 20 x 4 ), or maybe Graphic LCD's or Oled? Would appreciate any feedback regarding this question. Thank and you and have nice day.......

Sincerely,

Sunday

I don't know of any shields that provide a keyboard, though it depends on the number of keys you want.

In most cases, people use something like an external keypad matrix (https://www.adafruit.com/products/419) so the buttons can be larger.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the quick response, please look at below:

SainSmart LCD 1602 Keypad Shield for Arduino Due UNO R3 Mega2560 R3 Duemilanove
http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Keypad- ... B006OVYI1G

As you can see, there's a keypad Shield for the LCD, can I use this keypadshield for a 20 x 4 LCD? Thanks and have a nice day....

Sincerely,

Sunday

We have something similar: https://www.adafruit.com/products/772

The shield will work with a 4x20 LCD, but the LCD is big enough that it covers the buttons. You'd have to connect the LCD at a distance from the shield, or run wires from the shield to the buttons.
