Adafruit Mega shield kit

Post by kokopellix »

Do you have a set of instructions for assembling your MegaShield kit #B002VH6VW6.

Just don't want to make stupid mistake.

I am thanking you.

Just verification of the correct position for the six pin jumper set and the use for the two switches (I can see the socket for one).

Just a general overview of what goes where that I can check while soldering.

Sorry to bother you with something so trivial but old men do screw things up with alarming frequency.

The second pin goes in the middle of the board. Also the 2x3 goes in from the bottom over the ICSP connector.

The 6-pin header is for back-compatibility with the Mega 1280. That used the pre-R3 6-pin power header. If you have a Mega with an 8-pin power header, you won't use the 6-pin header at all.

First, I am thanking you.

Second, does the whitened double row of solder contacts at right end of the board correspond to the double row of pins, i.e, pins 22-53?

Is this another connection option for those pins, in addition to the female sockets?

Thanking you again.

Yes, the holes in the white box are connected to the double-row header on the end of the Mega.

Those holes are useful when you want to connect the Mega's pins to a circuit in the prototyping area. Trying to connect a jumper to a hole that already has a header soldered into it as awkward at best.
