Started assembling a TV-B-Gone, put 2 components in the wrong place and broke one of them (the resonator) while desoldering it. Then proceeded to grab the wrong end of the soldering iron.
Lesson learned, no new projects after 4AM!
I'm going to dig through my parts bins and see if I can replace the resonator, would hate to have to order a single part to finish this. Is there any way to use a crystal in its place?

speaking as a non-engineer...
one lead of the crystal in each of the outer to pads for the resonator and a wee little cap from each lead of the crystal to the center pad.
but i could be wrong.
