TV-B-Gone & Raspberry Pi

Post by LongLane »

I am trying to marry a Raspberry Pi with a TV B-Gone. It's not straightforward: a relay is needed to reset the TVBG. Also, the power draw from the TVBG sucks up too much power, which means, that the RPi crashes. I could, of course, have two power supplies, one for the RPi and one for the TVBG. What would be nice though, is to have a battery, such as a Li-Ion to provide more juice when the TVGB is active (which happens not continuously).

So, Adafruit have a range of charging modules and I was wondering if they can be used for my purpose, i.e. will they provide more the juice in excess of the 1A from my regular USB charger and how would such a setup look like?

Many thanks

LL

Why not simply use a 5v2A supply? You can attach this to the 5V GPIO pins to power the Pi.

Thanks Rick. So true... (I am smacking my head).

But the question still remains: could I use the LiIon batteries and charging modules to cover any shortfall and stabilise the power supply needed?

Thanks

Don't know if it has been tried, but I believe that should work.
