IR-Diode Replacements

Post by jwsk »

Hello,

I tried to replace broken diodes,
but they don't work like the diodes
which were part of the kit.

now i found two other diodes,

and

how do i have to choose the base resistor of the transistor?

Have a nice Day :)

The long one is usualy the positive.
If you have a diode test on you multimeter you can use that, or you can apply power to it an see if it lights up on a digital camera.

I think he's asking what resistor value to put on the base of the transistor, right? If so, I don't quite understand your question... the kit already comes with the resistors you need, but anything between 47ohms and 100ohms should work.

The data sheets don't mention the wavelength of the led's (unless I missed it)

940 nm

You missed it :) Table on page 2 and chart on page 3.

Specs look OK - no need to make any circuit changes.

IR output is only specified up to 50 mA, so the high current performance is uncertain. Maybe about 65% of the IR333-A.
