extending the led length

i got my hands on an old 60g ipod video. i took it apart and i want to get the tv b gone led into the headphone port, but the led is not long enough(meaning attached to the tvbgone still). my question is, if i unsodder the led and then attached a couple of wires to extend its length, will this mess with the remote in anyway?

i don't think adding "inches" of wire will have any affect on performance

Nope, you can do that, it won't affect its performance. I like the idea of the iPod for concealment, Bladdo (I think) did that nicely, but I also saw a very clever gameboy concealment that looked really cool too.
