I crammed a TV-B-Gone into an old Nokia phone, to make its use a little more discreet ;-)
It looks pretty innocent:
but what's this at the other end?
removing the cover:
and removing the front:
The insides of the phone were gutted to make room for the TV-B-Gone PCB and 2 x AAA batteries. The phone's keypad was glued into place, and is no longer functional. A piece of black plastic was taped to the inside of the phone's clear screen protector, so at first glance, it looks like a normal phone with the screen off.
The TV-B-Gone's button has been re-located to the bottom of the phone, and the indicator LED has been replaced by a smaller one that shines through one of the speaker holes on the front of the phone.
Both my sons (aged 11 and 15) have built their own TV-B-Gone devices too - and visiting a large electronics retailer is now a lot more fun ;-)
