AVRDude 5.9 for OSX?

Has anyone built the 5.9 version of avrdude for OSX 10.5 Leopard (PPC)? I've been using the avrdude 5.8 version installed by AVR CrossPack, but I understand from its author that it's unlikely to be updated any time soon. The reason for my interest in that 5.9 supports TPI-based programming of the new ATTiny10 series, as mentioned here:

Or, perhaps someone can show me how to build the 5.9 release on my PPC Mac?
