That might work. Normally when you connect multiple panels, you need blocking and bypass diodes to protect against problems caused by shaded panels. But, with several small ones like these grouped close together, it is less likely for one to become shaded. And since the output of each is pretty small, the chance of damage from reverse current is also pretty small.

well, they would be spaced around something like a dog collar, so one or two of them would quite likley end up shaded. Are there any tutorials for adding protection to them?

Heres a question, if i had 2 sets of these, ie 2 batteries 2 chargers etc, is it safe to link these together, like normal batteries to double the voltage?

That is generally not recommended. If the batteries are not charged perfectly evenly, one can become overloaded.

even if only the outputs were linked? you see ideally, i need an output of 6v - 7v for another project. the batteries must be able to be recharged without disconnecting them. Any advice ?

To do that you need a "balance charger" to make sure that the cells are properly balanced. With 2 somewhat variable and underpowered solar power sources for charging, it would be difficult to keep the cells balanced.
