Rasperry Pi Setup Instructions

Post by Keith_Bagwell »

We are doing a project for our senior design class and are just wondering if the following process is accurate for setting up a raspberry pi model b+.

1. Download the Zip-File for Noobs on the raspberry pi website to the computer.
2. SD formatter was installed and formatted the SD card to erase everything off it.
3. Put Downloaded Noobs files onto the SD card.
4. Once this was done, put the micro SD card and placed it inside the micro-controller.
5. Found an HDMI cable and attached it to the board and to a monitor.
6. Attached the power adapter to the board and outlet in the wall.
7. Now picking up a signal on the monitor begins and installing operating system on the controller begins.

These are steps that the group has found to be the process for setting up the Raspberry Pi Micro-Controller. Is this the correct process or do we need to follow something different? We are all new to using this hardware. Any input would really help the team. Also, will a HDMI to VGA adapter cable work will receiving a signal on a monitor from the hardware? If this does not work, will a HDMI to DVI cable possible work with this? Most of the school's monitors do not have HDMI. Thanks for listening and hope to receive some feedback.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/help/noobs-setup/ I'd go with the HDMI to DVI cable.

I was wondering if there is anyway to connect the raspberry pi model b+ to a matlab simulink program. If this is possible, any suggestions for this?

It should be possible, but we don't have any in-house experience with it.

You'll probably have better luck checking with the Matlab folks.. they're definitely interested in the RasPi as a platform.
