How Do I Constantly Power the Trinket?

Post by saddlepiggy »

Hi, I'm new to electronics like this, and am wondering if there is any way to constantly power the Trinket 5v with a couple AAAs batteries. If thats possible, how can I attach those AAAs so that they are like one power source. Thanks, saddlepiggy.

3xAAA alkaline batteries will put out 4.5v which is enough to power the 5v Trinket.
You could also use 4x NiMH cells which will put out 4.8v.

Either combination is enough to power a Trinket alone for quite a few hours. How long will depend on what else you have attached to it.

Well I just facepalmed. I just realized I also need to be able to recharge it. New request: I can't seem to be able to find out how to power it via LiPo. Thanks, saddlepiggy

The micro-LiPo or mini-LiPo charger will handle it.

No, but how do I actually connect it. I cant seem to find the connection, because the Trinket uses a mini usb port, and the LiPo has a lipo connector.

If you want to keep the LiPo connected to the Trinket all the time, it will be easiest to use the Micro Lipo charger: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1904

Connect the BAT and GND pins on the charger to BAT+ and GND on the Trinket, then connect the Trinket's USB+ pin to the charger's 5v pin.

With those connections, the Trinket will take power from the LiPo when you don't have it connected to USB, and connecting it to USB will take over the power source and charge the LiPo.
