ws2811 repeater

Post by rm312 »

Heya,

I've a long distance between a series of 12v 10w rgb pixels and wanted to use a ws2811 chip as a repeater to bridge the gap between LEDS.

Is it possible to create a circuit that is as simple as possible to do this job, preferably without an LED to keep costs down? Would it need power or is the data signal enough?

I think I've come across this before as a premade board you can purchase but I cannot find it anywhere now.

Any pointers in the right direction would be ace!

Cheers
Rich

It should work but could you post a link to your pixels? you will need to power the repeater and provide a common ground. Adafruit has these https://www.adafruit.com/products/1378
