i have a 3.3v FTDI and have hooked it up to huzzah. when I plug in to the mac on OS X, I'm not seeing a serial port option come up via FTDI.
perhaps 3.3v FTDI is too low and I should be working with a 5V one? Yes, I do see a blue and red flash every time I plug it in. but my serial ports on arduino IDE still only offer 3 options
/dev/cu.Bluetooth...
/dev/cu.lightbluebean...
/dev/cu.MinijamboxJawbone...
no dev/tty/USB0 or such.
Thanks for any help.
David

Have you installed the FTDI drivers?

Well I have 2 esp8266 and the ftdi recognizes those however I will check again with the huzzah and maybe try to install those drivers too.

Wait - you can see the FTDI cable or not? If you can see it, then you must have the drivers installed.
So I'm not sure I understand the problem. The FTDI doesn't appear in the serial port list when you're connected to the Huzzah, but it does appear when you're connected to the other two ESP8266 modules? Makes no sense...
