Radon Gas Monitor hack with Arduino Ethernet

by nafis on Fri Mar 23, 2012 6:21 pm

Radon gas is a leading cause of Lung cancer. Charcoal test kits only give you a small window view to your Radon levels. Radon levels vary over the year and change with the weather. I've only been able to find one inexpensive electronic radon gas detector. Unfortunately it isn't set up to collect data. I wanted to work with the local schools to collect radon and weather data to correlate.

Here is a "hack" to collect radon data: http://www.howmuchsnow.com/arduino/radon/

Here's another neat alpha particle detector. Adafruit should make/sell a kit! Just not sure where we would find a 8KVDC power supply.

Hi Nafis,

I'm trying to replicate your success. I see the code for the older style radon monitor is listed on your page. Any chance for the code which interfaces the newer model radon model (Safety Siren Pro Series 3 Radon Gas Detector Model No: HS71512) might be also downloadable? I've looked everywhere and it doesn't look like it's listed.
