Adding amp to non-amped "Music Maker" MP3 Shield

Post by embedgeek »

Hello.

What part(s) would I need to convert this product

Adafruit "Music Maker" MP3 Shield for Arduino
http://www.adafruit.com/products/1790

into this product:

Adafruit "Music Maker" MP3 Shield for Arduino w/3W Stereo Amp
http://www.adafruit.com/product/1788

Thank you in advance.

Thank you. I ordered the necessary parts you suggested. What connections do I need to make from https://www.adafruit.com/products/1790 to the ST2012 ?

You need to connect the right and left outputs of the music maker to the right and left inputs of the amplifier.

I did make the proper R/L +/- connections from the shield to the ST2012. I also connected GND and VDD on the ST2012 to the GND and 5V on the shield, respectively. Still a no go. I must be missing something

Could you post clear pictures of your board and the connections to it?

I figured this alone would suffice. Do I need to adjust my code if I add the ST2012?

To be safe run VDD on the amp to 5V on the shield. The amp can't take more than 5.5V. Also how are you powering the shield?

Ok, I updated my wiring and still nothing. I can, however, still hear the sounds via the headphone jack on the shield. I am powering the shield via USB on the arduino uno that it is connected to.

Could you post clear pictures of both sides of your board showing any soldering you have done and the connections to it?
