Arduino mega 2560

Hi

I need a clarification of the max drive level out of the mega2560. According to the "Tech Details" tab for the 2560 on the adafruit site it's 40 mA.

The datasheet (see www.atmel.com/Images/doc2549.pdf page 367) lists Vol as 20 mA and Voh as -20 mA. The datasheet however is marked "Preliminary". Is there a more recent datasheet that shows more drive capability of 40 mA or is the adafruit site mistaken in showing a 40 mA capability.

This is important to me since I actually need 40 mA of drive and will have to put external drivers on output pins if the 2560 is limited to 20 mA.

Short answer: If you need 40 mA on multiple pins, you should probably plan on using external drivers.
