I need to move a satellite dish, and am contemplating whether it's possible to make Arduino-based satellite signal strength sensors to assist with pointing the dish on the XY plane.
Are there any satellite RF wonks out there with sufficient discouraging words to talk me out of pursuing this?
As a bit of background - DirecTV no longer moves, adjusts, or repairs dishes mounted on roof tops beyond reach of a ladder, thus my need for a DIY solution.
DirecTV satellite dish pointing with Arduino-based signal strength sensors?

I don't think that you need to know the signal strength because your position relativ to satellite is fixed so in your sketch you can define your position and the satellites coordination and than only move dish motor to the satellite coordination....
