power thermal printer+arduino uno

i want to supply UNO+ethernet shield + thermal printer with one source
what the optimal voltage & current i need for all this ??

The Thermal printer we stock (http://www.adafruit.com/products/597) wants about 1.5A of current. An Arduino and Ethernet Shield can run on 500mA, so the 5v@2A power supply should work for you: http://www.adafruit.com/products/276

That's the same one that comes in the Internet of Things Printer Pack, which has the same parts.

UNO work with 7 volt ....how can i use 5 volt for both (UNO+PRINTER)???

As long as you're using a 5V supply (nothing higher), you can connect to the Arduino's VIN and GND pins directly using jumper wires, bypassing the voltage regulator (and the need for a higher input voltage).

Careful though, with the wrong power supply you risk toasting the board. I've gotten into the habit of labeling the voltage on ALL of my power bricks, using a little tape flag right by the DC connector.

This power supply (5 volt , 2A)
connect directly to the Arduino's VIN and GND pins , do u mean that ?
now how the printer take it's power??


plz can u explain me in pic or some thins how to power (arduino& printer) with this adapter ???
