I purchased a starter pack for arduino which included an Arduino UNO R3. When I received the kit, I downloaded the Arduino IDE and then proceeded to try some of the tutorials. Unfortunately, I could never get any of the programs to upload from my Mac to the Arduino. I'm running the latest version of Mac OSX BANNED. I tried many of the solutions that were posted on this board, on the Arduino site and on Apple's own support boards. No luck. I even tried several different USB cables which were also a suggestion. Luckily, I had also ordered an additional Arduino from AdaFruit in a separate order and that one worked. I would now like to replace the defective Uno for a new one. I know the unit is defective as it never worked, and the other one did.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
btw - I also tried to get it to work on my PC with similar results.
My order Number was - 409195
Thanks, John

Re: Defective Arduino
I purchased the Arduino on January 6th, but didn't receive it from UPS until January 15th. The Arduino came in a kit.
