Flora Project and Question

Post by joshuakane »

Hello,

My daughter, who is 8, wanted to "do something fun" yesterday afternoon. She told me that she wanted to make a stuffed puppy with laser eyes. She had a stuffed animal that somehow lost its plastic eyes. We took a Flora controller, and some 12mm WS2801 LED's. She helped with the soldering, programming and surgery to close up the stuffed animal. The one question I have is if it is possible to get the 12mm LED's working with the 6V Coin Battery pack? (http://www.adafruit.com/products/783) Currently we are using the waterproof battery pack (http://www.adafruit.com/products/771), as the coin cell holder does not seem to be able to power the LED's.

Here are some pictures of the build

And here is a video of it :-)

Nice job! We like to see kids getting involved!

Coin cells have a lot on internal resistance, and typically can't provide enough current for what you're trying to do.
