Help with Neopixel project

Post by Why_at »

Hi,
I'm trying to make a strip of neopixels follow a person as they walk down a hallway. I currently have them connected to a ping ultrasonic sensor and an Arduino UNO. It has kinda worked but it's more sporadic than I would like. I don't think the ping is accurate enough at long distances. Any suggestions?

What distance are you trying to achieve? You could use a different sonic range finder or breakbeam sensors across the hallway or pressure pads on the floor.

The distance is the length of our hallway, which is about 9 feet, I would like to use only one, or as few sensors as possible.
Pressure pads aren't an option, breakbeams sound like they would take a lot of them (one every foot?).
Do you have any suggestions for a different sonic range finder?
Thanks for your reply.

Maxbotix carries a range of sensors. http://www.maxbotix.com

Thanks for the tip, after looking at the website I've decided on the LV max sonar EZ line, but am not sure which beam width to get, I'm thinking EZ1-2? What do you recommend? Thanks.
(Hallway is 3ft 3in wide by 9ft long)
