Blue light illumination chamber

Post by pirwlan »

Hey guys,

First of all, I am quiet new to the electricity aspect of arduino, so in case I ask really dumb questions, I am sorry for that.

I am supposed to build a LED illumination setup to illuminate cells with blue light. I want to use 6 LEDs (V typ.: 3,1 V; V max.: 3,5 V). If I understand the electronnics behind these numbers correctly, I have voltage drop of roughly 3.1 Volts at each of the LEDs, so I would need 18.6 V in total, leading to a 24 Volt power supply, including a resistor for remaining 6 Volts.

I am wondering, whether I could control such as circuit with an Arduino Uno, since the Voltage is higher than the Arduino is normally doing (which is 5 Volts, right?).

I am happy for every advice/hint.

Best wishes

Pierre

If you wire them in series, you can use a transistor to switch the higher voltage supply.
