I will instantly become an adafruit customer if you can tell me what I need in the way of hardware to attach an SD card system
to my ATMega2560.

The MicroSD breakout board works with the 2560 http://www.adafruit.com/products/254
There is also the Data Logger Shield, which has an SD slot plus a Real Time Clock. http://www.adafruit.com/products/243

Hi,

Could you please confirm that "Adafruit Data logging shield for Arduino - v1.0" is working with Arduino Mega 2560?
At product page there is a clear warning: "PLEASE NOTE: This shield is not MEGA compatible at this time".
These shield is perfect for my project but I need more flash so I need ATmega2560....

Best regards

Piotr

Hello, and welcome to the forums.
Could you please confirm that "Adafruit Data logging shield for Arduino - v1.0" is working with Arduino Mega 2560?

One of our most talented customers has figured out how to make the Data Logger Shield work on a Mega without modification. See this thread for details: http://forums.adafruit.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=27245
