Touch LCD shield - program not saving on power cycle

Post by 2N3055 »

Hi, can anyone please tell me if I missed something in the notes for this shield.

Programs load OK, run OK, but if I pull the usb between the pc and the uno, then reconnect it - the LCD screen stays blank, ie the program is not running, so I assume it is not being saved.

Am I seeing a problem ?
Thanks in advance

Thank you for your prompt reply, I think I had an answer.

With power connected, press the reset button
-> pgm starts as normal

Remove power, then reconnect
-> pgm fails to start, and no communications from the Serial.print lines

On a Uno with built in Ethernet - which has taken several sketches over the past few weeks, including running my aquarium lights for a week, so I believe in its hardware integrity. This fails

I also have two genuine made in China ebay Unos which exhibit the problem in the same way, so it is on differing hardware units.

HOWEVER
I have just tried (after pulling it out of another project) my original Uno from an electronics store that charged me $25 extra
And this one works. as in I can remove power, and when reapplied, the program starts as expected.

INTERMITTENT
After writing this, I tried it again, it now fails consistantly.
I notice something different though, on the uno pcb there is a led labelled "L" its flashing in a regular pattern
two short flashes a short delay then two short flashes then a long delay - Repeats -

do not use clones for testing the shield, they could be much different and often have problems. does it work with the original UNO?
