Post by julienbeaumont »

Hi, i'm starting in arduino, i bought a Mega 2560 and a rgb lcd controller (http://www.adafruit.com/products/714)
I can't get it to work, I tried to compare the pin position with the picture of a uno but I don't have any result, can someone tell me precisely wich pin i must plug and where ?

connect the SCL and SDA pins from the top left corner of the shield to the SCL/SDA pins on the top left corner of the MEGA - they're next to AREF

do not connect digital 4 and 5

Top left, not top right. Looking from the face side of the shield.

Are you sure you didn't have SDA and SCL reversed? SCL is the pin on the far left end and SDA is the second pin in.

If the backlight is working, you are communicating with the shield. The missing text is an indication of a soldering problem on the shield. Post clear photos of the front and back of the shield.

As far as I can see, I don't notice faulty soldering...
