I'm working on a nice enclosure for the shield http://www.adafruit.com/products/714, I'm using it detached from my Arduino. The enclosure I want to use is here http://www.polycase.com/ag-series. It fits nicely, but a big problem is that the tactile switches on the shield are really far away from the top of the enclosure, they would have to extend at least 16mm from the board they are mounted on. I've looked high and low for keycaps or extenders that long with no success. Can anyone recommend a way to extend the switches that far?
As an alternative, there is room inside the enclosure in front of the LCD (by itself, unmounted from the circuit board with the switches) to mount a smaller proto board or some such with all the components from the underlying board on the 714, moving it closer to the top so the switches would be close enough. Does Adafruit make the schematic available for the board? It's simple enough, I could probably figure it out if I studied it for a while. Maybe there is a nice little board somewhere laid out for the switches already, and I could just hardwire from that to the 714 switch circuits.
