RGB LCD Display Temperature spec?

Post by ohnoitsmrbill »

Is there a complete specification for the RGB LCD Display shield? I used it with a temperature data logger and then display blanks at a relatively high temperature. I was expecting typical electronics temperature range of 32 to 104deg F. However, the LCD blanked at about 45 deg F. This was even with full contrast.

Thanks,
Bill

The electrical characteristics of the LCD fluid vary with temperature. Typical LCD display ratings are in the 0C - 50C range.

Thanks, Looks like my battery was dead, so the the display was dropping out. Works better with full battery.

Yea, a cold, weak battery and a cold display would be a bad combination. The display needs a higher drive voltage as the temp drops, and battery output tends to drop in the cold as well.
