I am working on a project that will motorize a sliding DSLR camera platform. The set up is very basic and the camera is not very heavy. Basically its the equivalent of a DSLR camera sliding horizontally along a rail. I'm going to rig up the stepper motor to pull the slider with the camera mounted on it along the rail.
What I'm not sure about is whether or not the combination of these two products will provide enough torque for the job:
Stepper motor - NEMA-17 size - 200 steps/rev, 12V 350mA

and
Adafruit Motor/Stepper/Servo Shield for Arduino v2 Kit - v2.3
https://www.adafruit.com/products/1438
I'm completely new to stepper motors and don't know how powerful this stepper motor will be.
Can anyone tell me if this stepper motor will be adequate? Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
Right shield and stepper motor?

Re: Right shield and stepper motor?
Those motors do work well with the V2 motor shield. And they should be suitable for all but the most massive lens/body combinations in that application.
