CC3000 firmware driver patch compiler error

I am trying to install the latest (1.13) CC3000 firmware patch but am getting the same compile error in two different IDEs. See the error message below. When looking at similar firmware patches on the Internet, they start with "const" which is what the IDEs are expecting but don't use "PROGMEM". Oddly, I can't seem to find anyone else having this issue. Thoughts?

Why do you need to install the latest version of the firmware? 1.13 is not a stable version and should only be used if nothing else fixes a problem. Also Arduino 1.5.8 is still buggy and is not recommended for general use. Try 1.12 and 1.0.5/1.0.6.

I solved the compiler issue by downgrading the Arduino IDE to 1.0.6. However, you are right - v 1.13 seems to have problems.
