Mounting 399 negative lcd on 714 shield

Post by nelhensley »

Hi,

Maybey I am missing something but the Adafruit I2C Controlled + Keypad Shield Kit for 16x2 LCD came with a RGB backlight negative LCD 16x2 + extras - RGB on black (399) but it is fully mounted on a pcb and has metal twists to hold the lcd on. Looking at the shield instructions. It doesnt recommend the best way to go about mounting the 399 on the shield. How should I go about using the 399 on the shield?

it is fully mounted on a pcb and has metal twists to hold the lcd on.
That is the LCD controller board. The whole controller board mounts to the shield. https://learn.adafruit.com/rgb-lcd-shield/assembly

First you solder the headers to the controller board,

Then flip over the shield and solder the header pins there.
