Replacement chip for LCD Shield

Post by sirmichael »

I have an LCD Shield with 16x2 Display (Product ID 772) that stopped working for me.
Near as I can figure out, the on-board chip must have gone bad.
The display still works (I can see the character outlines) but the display LED doesn't light and the keys no longer function.

How do I go about getting a replacement?

Can I get a replacement chip for this board. I have the equipment to remove the existing chip from the circuit board.

Could you post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of your board showing any soldering you have done and the connections to it?

I had the board installed on the UNO, I pressed the reset button (which I have done in the past) and it just quit.
The board has been working for the last few days OK.

I have one more file that I was going to add, but it looks like there is a limit if 3.

By the way, I'm expecting to pay for this part. I've had the display for about 6 months (just didn't use it).

There is no programming in the chip so if you wanted to take on replacing it you can get one from the shop https://www.adafruit.com/product/732 or just order a new board. If you email [email protected] with a link to this thread They may be able to work something out as to a discount.
