Simple Question guys, I purchased a inexpensive nema 17 motor from amazon "http://www.amazon.com/57oz-NEMA-Stepper ... roduct_top"
Its basically a sumtor 42hs4013a4. 1.3A 2.5 Phase resistance, 5mH
Looks like spec's are close, but rated current is 1.3A rather than 1.2A as i see on your spec's, and I noticed while testing that the driver chip got very hot. I have since disassembled and removed the shield from the project, but before setting up some tests I wanted to make sure that this stepper is compatible and wanted to ask the experts.
Thanks

As you found your stepper is outside the limits of our driver. If you just have one motor you could check Pololu.com for their drivers.

Unlike DC motors, stepper motors draw maximum current when standing still with holding torque. That is why we recommend that you use the continuous current rating, rather than the peak current rating when sizing a driver:
