Using other components with the music maker shield

Post by tomchambers »

I have a project that uses a pir sensor, a neopixel ring and a thermal printer. Since the shield blocks the pins, is there a way I can still plug all these components in? Will I have to wire up the shield separately?

I notice there are some GPIO pins, but these seem to be 3v, whereas my components are all 5v.

You could use stacking headers on the shield or connect to the pins next to the header pins.

I'm not sure what you mean by the pins next to the header pins, can you clarify?

Thanks. Can all of these pins be used for other components or are some taken up by the wave shield?

Some of them are connected, but some of those can be moved.

This tutorial page explains the connections and how to deal with them: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-mus ... er/pinouts
