Hi there,
I am considerably new to electronics, and recently I purchased the CC3000 wifi shield. I have followed the steps from the learning center, and still not able to get my wifi shield started.
I have soldered the Wifi shield according to instructions and mounted it onto the Arduino UNO. Now, I have connected the UNO to my computer USB port, and uploaded the 'build test' sample code from Adafruit's library. However, when I check the serial monitor I get some really weird output.
So, I would like to know if there is a step that I'm missing. When I connect the UNO, the serial monitor just shows 'attempting to connect to.....' and a series of weird characters.
Any help or tips would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Please post clear, detailed pictures of both sides of the shield, showing your soldering.

Hmmm. This is very peculiar. I'm wondering if your computer USB port is not providing enough power. Do you have a 9VDC wall wart you can use to power the Arduino? Or a self-powered USB hub? Something other than the computer USB...

Yes, I do have a powerBoost 500 charger from Adafruit and a 3.7v/2500mAh battery.

Do you still get the same result using the battery and PowerBoost?

I have not tried yet, because I don't have the adaptor in order to connect both the computer USB and powerBoost at the same time. I will try in different computers and see if I can get any different result in the meantime.

It seems to not work on different computers as well. Now, I need to figure out a way to test with an external power supply.
If it still shows that output on the Serial Monitor, do you think I should take it for damaged?
I will need to get another board, but I don't want to waste any money; so just trying to make sure it is really faulty and is it not my setup.

That's not right. Let's try replacing the shield for you. Please email [email protected] with a link to this thread for a replacement CC3000 shield.brunohppl wrote:It seems to not work on different computers as well.
