2.8 TFT Capacitive Touch Shield-Loose Glass

Post by michaelburtmoore »

I ordered and received the above referenced, PID 1947. When I removed it from the packaging, the glass screen seemed to be very loosely attached. I did not know if this was a flaw, or if the screen was supposed to "float". I installed the screen on an Uno R3. After compiling and uploading the graphics test code......nothing. Crickets....... The LED on the UNO was on, but no signs of life from the shield. I removed the shield, and used the same UNO with a different program successfully to verify the issue was with the shield and not the Uno.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with ordering from and using the Adafruit site. Trust me, I've ordered a LOT of stuff....... and built several successful projects, so although not a veteran, I'm certainly not a newby.

I think I would just like to get this one exchanged.

Help?

Could you post large (less than 1meg,~800x600), clear, detailed pictures of both sides of your board showing the connections to it? and the loose glass.

One more picture of the back of the shield. Make sure the ribbon cable is inserted all the way and the locks are engaged. Take a look at the pictures here for how it should look https://www.adafruit.com/products/1947

Sorry for the delay. I have been out of town. Attached is the image you requested. Sure enough, it appears a portion of the strip is detached. I do not know if this is a solder joint or press fit. I attempted to gently re-insert, but the ribbon will not stay.
