Motor Shield V2 Access power into jack from terminal block?

Post by sekramer10 »

Hello,

I have the Motor Shield v2 for Uno. I was going to also power some 12V LEDs. I have a 12V power supply plugged into the jack on the Uno. Can you access power from the Uno jack by connecting to the Motor Shield power supply terminal block? If so, is there an amperage or voltage limit? (This would be similar to using Vin to power things at whatever the input supply voltage is).

Thanks,
Stephen

With the VIN juper installed, the motor shield terminal blocks are connected in parallel with the VIN pin n the Arduino. I would not try to pull more than 2-3A total (including motor power). Typical current ratings for header pins as used for the Arduino VIN and the shield VIN jumper are in the 2.5A-3A range.
