Can't get avrdude to program my fuzebox....

Postby aburzillo » Sun Dec 28, 2008 2:17 am

I'm using the usbtiny programmer with my fuzebox. I'm programming it from a mac laptop, using the command:

avrdude -c usbtiny -p atmega644 -U flash:w:megatris.hex

and it returns with an initialization error rc = -1

do you know what may be wrong? I have colorbars and everything (and I really feel like playing some megatris...)

Thanks for your help!!

is the fuzebox powered? do you have the cable in the right way? try the other cable, and also check that its in the right way

hmm, does -anything- happen? does the fuzebox reset or anything?
also, just to be sure, you can program -other- chips, right?

ugh

I take it back, it can program other chips, so it must be a problem with the fuzebox....

if you dont have a spokepov kit, try the jumper hack, detailed in the usbtiny assembly instructions

By the way, if I overide the test, I get:

Macintosh:~ ant$ avrdude -c usbtiny -p m644 -F

avrdude: initialization failed, rc=-1
avrdude: AVR device initialized and ready to accept instructions

Reading | ################################################## | 100% 0.01s

avrdude: Device signature = 0x000000
avrdude: Yikes! Invalid device signature.
avrdude: Expected signature for ATMEGA644 is 1E 96 09

avrdude: safemode: Fuses OK

avrdude done. Thank you.

well, I've already confirmed that the usbtinyISP works, so how would that help?

the output resistors used when programming spokepovs might be fighting the resistors that connect to the sd card. theres a good chance thats the issue

I can't find where this hack is detailed do you have a link?

I looked for it on the usbtiny page and on the spokepov page with no luck.

Thanks a million for your help!
