I'm looking for ideas on powering a standalone xbee with a battery, in the smallest/cheapest way possible. I'm planning on using about 15 standalone xbees as wireless switches (unless anyone has a better idea). I just need them to report the open/closed status of a simple switch.
For this kind of simple thing, would it be possible to use a AAA or even a watch battery and not have to use any voltage regulation? Could I also get away with only turning the xbee on when the simple switch is open? (it's normally closed) How long do you think it would take to communicate it's status after power is applied to it?
Battery for Xbee?
