I purchased the tweet-a-watt starter kit, got both xbee's updated with the 10CD firmware. No problem.
Then following these instructions: http://www.ladyada.net/make/tweetawatt/config.html
I was trying to configure the transmitter. I opened X-CTU and went to the Terminal tab.
I typed
+++ got OK
MY=1, got OK
SM=4, got OK
ST=3, got OK
SP=C8
it appears that after this last command the xbee went to sleep right away without me ever typing ATWR!
What did I do wrong? Because I was never able to get the other settings sent.
It's plugged into the adafruit xbee adapter and the green light is in fact blinking every two seconds while it's connected to the ftdi usb cable.
But if I unplug the ftdi cable, or connect RST to ground, nothing seems to reset or wake this sucker up.
It just keeps blinking every two seconds.
I tried the instructions found here: http://forums.ladyada.net/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=11427
It takes away the action required screen, but all I get is:It is possible when using the USB board. You just have to go about it in a different manner.
1. Take the module out of the interface board.
2. Connect the interface board to the computer.
3. Open X-CTU
4. Go to "Modem Configuration"
5. Put a check in the "Always update firmware" box
6. Select proper modem from drop down menu,
7. Select proper function set and firmware version
from drop down menus.
8. Click on the "Write" button. After a few seconds of
trying to read the modem, you will get an Info box
that says Action Needed. At this point, CAREFULLY
insert the module into the interface board.
9. You may get the info box again a short while after,
just use the reset button on the interface board.
Getting modem type....OK
Programming modem...Lost communication with modem
Write Parameters...Failed
Can anyone help me on this?
Thanks!
