range extending

Post by capsterx »

I have an xbee receiver with a good sized 2.4ghz antenna, but I still sometimes am unable to maintain a stable signal from the tweet-a-watt xbee (chip based sender). What is a good way to boost the signal or repeater?

try putting the antenna on the -sender- not the receiver

Watch out doing that as the sender is not isolated from the power source, so if you put a RP SMA out the side of the kill-a-watt it will end up with some voltage on it.

oh right! good point there
hmm that is true however if you have it so only the plastic antenna is sticking out it and no metal that should be OK
still, be very careful!
