Running xbee on 9v

Post by mikelehen »

I want to power an xbee (w/ adafruit adapter) off of a 9v battery. I know the adapter needs a voltage under 6v coming in on the 5v pin. Can I just throw a 7805 in? Or do I need a capacitor on the input and/or output? I don't know much about power supplies, but I'm hoping any noise/ripple/whatever issues will be taken care of by the regulator / capacitors on the adapter. Sound reasonable?

Thanks!

Hi mikelehen,

That should work OK.I would at least add a 100 uf cap across the Vin and Gnd pins.
