Question on Xbee relay control

Post by FlyingSaucrDude »

Hi there -- this is a question about the "Using Xbees to control relays" video at http://www.adafruit.com/blog/2009/04/21 ... ol-relays/. I was just curious why the hex inverter was necessary for the latch relay. One of the comments mentioned that a buffer was needed, but couldn't you just replace the hex relay with two transistors (the same way one transistor was used for the standard relay)? Or is the hex inverter doing something else in addition to sourcing enough current to control the relay?

As always, apologies if this is a dumb question -- I'm just here to learn! :)
