Xbee adapter not working

Postby FelixR » Mon Aug 16, 2010 9:35 pm

I purchased the Kill-a-watt kit among other things (order 60802) and one
of the xbee adapters seems to be non-responsive (led not blinking ... no
response from x-ctu). The other adapter works fine with both xbees, i can
read/write to the radios. I checked the soldering and I'm sure everything is
soldered correctly, the leds, capacitors and all of these are functional. I
don't know how to check the other parts though (IC, transistor) on the
faulty adaptor. I'm wondering if i did something wrong or the parts are bad.
I can send pictures if you want to take a look ... Any advice?

Pictures would be good. Nice clear shots of the front and back of the board.

can you measure the voltage between ground and the '3v' pin?

I'm reading 3.3V.

Yeah, it is very odd.
Both xbees work OK with the other adapter, the green led blinks, and they respond to commands. So it must be the adapter.
By the way, I already ordered another adapter... But would like to find out what's going on with this one. I'm wondering if somehow the level shifter is the problem..

if you find that you cannot fix it and believe the shifter is faulty, please email us support@adafruit with a link to this thread so we can replace the kit :)
