Teensy and XBee - covered pins

Post by eiður »

I have been thinking about buying a teensy https://www.adafruit.com/products/199

But I want to use an xbee as well - from the pictures I have seen
http://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_libs_XBee.html

....It seems that all the analog inputs are covered if one uses an Xbee with the teensy - is that so?
sort of seems to make the device useless (like an extension cord plugged into itself :) ?

For my project I would like to connect six sensors using six analog pin´s
and send it over xbee to my computer - (each pin would have to have 1024 resolution)- Is there any other board that would be better for my purposes

It would need to be as small as possible though

All the best. Eiður

You could put your analog stuff on a protoboard and sandwich it between the teensy and the xbee adapter with some stacking headers.

Ok

What is a good way to power the whole thing if I am not getting power from the usb cord?

Is there some kind of battery solution for that?

PJRC has a page on teensy power options. Basically, you can directly power it from a couple of AA's. Or, you can run it from a wall-wart. Or you can use something like a minty-boost, which will provide regulated power to the USB plug.

There are lots of ways to do it - it depends on what you requirements are (battery or mains, battery run-time, etc.)
