Communication between Iphone and Zigbee modules

Post by tlerdrden »

Hi Adafruit community,

I contact you because I am developing a project and one of the goals is to switch on the lights of a house using an Iphone. I think that the proper technology is Zigbee, however, as far as I am concerned, Iphone doesn't support this kind of techonology. So I would ask you some doubts:
1. Does exist any way to communicate the Iphone with an Xbee module?
2. I've been thinking to use Xbee modules connected to the lights, and, if exists, use a WIFI-Zigbee bridge in order to ensure the communication. What do you think about it? Any other possibility?

Thanks for your help,
Sincerely,
T.

Iphone and XBee's (any type or protocol) do not communicate directly.
To do this you need to first establish a ZigBee network within your house and then connect this ZigBee network, through another device, to some radio that does talk to an Iphone or the Internet or Wireless phone carrier.
Go to Digi Int's web site to learn how this could be accomplished.
