Simple sending of NEMA GPS

Post by brizey »

Is there a simple way to directly hookup any XBEE module to a GPS module that adafruit sells and send it without a arduino or other device? I just want to recieve the NEMA Sentences on a PC.

I would try hooking the TX and RX of the GPS to the RX and TX of the xbee adapter. Be aware the xbee module itself is not 5v tolerant.

The GPS module itself is a 3.3V device. It appears that the breakout has a direct connection from TX to the header.

Cool. Please post results when you get it working!

*Just remember, if you change any settings in the GPS module (baud rate, update rate, etc...) you will need to keep the backup battery installed in order to keep those changes saved when the GPS is not powered. Otherwise it resets to factory default settings.
