Faulty XBee Module - ZB Series2

Post by jonaslindahl »

I recently (Monday, September 1st, 2014) bought three "XBee - ZB Series 2".
https://www.adafruit.com/products/968
I have been using two of them for a few weeks now and everything
works great. It was when I started using the third one that I noticed that the
range of that radio module was considerably lower than the first two.
The range with clear view of sight for the third radio is only a few meters.

I'm guessing something is wrong with the RF-part of the unit.

Same RF power settings (default MAX) have been used on all three units.

I also tried the XCTU range test and the RSSI levels are about -70dBm
at 50 cm clear view of sight for the faulty unit. With the other units
I get the same value with several walls in between.

All tests have been made using "USB XBee Adapter https://www.adafruit.com/products/247" connected to computers.

The faulty unit shows no visible defects, antenna seems ok and so forth..

I contacted [email protected] and was redirected here for a replacement unit if needed.

Br,

Jonas Lindahl
