Can I use Flora GPS & xbee to track my dog no pc?

Hi, I read the post about tracking the rabbit, but I don't want to log any info of where my pet has been. I just want to use 2 Flora sewable GPS modules and I was told to get 2 xbees so that the two gps could communicate with each other so that I know where my dog is at all times. I will be using it in a wearable project with LEDs so that the LEDs can point me to my dog and His LEDs to me. Which xbees do I order? There are so many that I don't know which one to pick. I am using a Flora, Flora compass and the Flora GPS. Thanks

GPS units do not transmit so the xbees will do that but they have limited range. How far away will your dog be (maximum distance)?

5 to 10 feet. close. I just want to make sure he doesn't wonder off. which XBEE do i buy? Thank You

Do you have a product link please? So this is doable? YEAH, What would be the ideal distance between me and my dog and how reliable will this be? I'm in the Gemma hats off challenge and we have a circuit with the Flora GPS to take me home, but one of the guys at Hive76 gave me this idea and if I'm going to do it, I need it to be reliable. Im not logging any information on my computer i just want to keep tabs on my dog. By the way, I want the best Xbee for this, I don't mind spending the money for the best one. There are no hard numbers on this. It all depends on where the two radios are and what else around them may interfere. Also, looking back at the post you said not price limit so I would go with the pros. https://www.adafruit.com/products/964
