Hi,
have constructed the Ice tube clock sucessfully, i followed all the steps and tests, its all went fine , excpet when i expected it to wake me up one morning, the buzzer wount sound at the set alarm time.
I have the clock set to 24hr time . and the alarm switch is in the on position , and the "dash" indicating alarm on is displayed.
can you suggest where the peoblem might lbe
Thankyou
Kari

did you short any thing out (like have things connected togher, and at least when i followed the directions one of the steps was to plug it and listen for it to beep, and it didn't beep then? or did it?

Re: Ice Tube - alarm doesnt sound
yes, it beeped when tested during the construction phase.
it doesnt beep when powered down and back up again, and there is no sound when the alarm should go off.
looking carefully over the pcb i dont see any shorts or obvious dry joints.
all other clock functions work perfectly it just doesnt wake me up for work...no bad thing you might say.

Something happened to the beeper in the meantime, check to see if its soldered on well. The clock should beep when plugged in

checked out the piezo ,no problem there .
what kind of signal should i detect out to the piezo when the alarm goes off?

If the piezo is properly connected you'll see a square wave going through it.
The piezo is connected to two pins, which are both controlled by the same PWM but one is inverted, so basically while one pin is pushed high the other is pulled low, (effectively doubling the peak-to-peak voltage applied to the piezo.) You can see that it's attached to pins 15 and 16. You can also see from the firmware that each pin is being driven by PWM, just in opposite directions.
This means, however, that if either pin is poorly soldered, either on the piezo or on the microcontroller, you'll get nothing out of the piezo, because there's no ground.
