One more question. What is the 4 digit number on the back of the smaller tube-board?

3711 is the number on the smaller board.

I actually ordered 5 chips of the same type from Mouser Electronics this morning, but I will have no way of programming them yet as the ISP device is sold out on the website. I also would need the code for this and can a blank chip be programmed on a built board correctly?

We can send you a pre-programmed one. If you want to program your own, you can do it on the board following the instructions here: http://www.ladyada.net/make/icetube/mods.html
